Compagnie des Indes Leviathan 1973+1996 Vintage

An aged rum from Compagnie des Indes, released as a numbered bottle in a limited outturn of 500 worldwide and accompanied by a wooden box. The blend combines 56.1% agricultural rum from Guadeloupe, distilled in 1973, with 43.9% molasses rum from Panama, distilled in 1996, for balance between complexity and sweetness. It is golden in colour. The nose has aromas of unripe cherry, fig and coffee. The palate begins with explosive eucalyptus, followed by roasted aromas and notes of leather, wood, tobacco and spices. The finish is quite tart and dry, with an alcoholic edge, bitter orange peel, liquorice and dark chocolate. It is best enjoyed neat.
