Affinity is a Compass Box spirit drink that blends Scotch whisky with Calvados, the apple brandy of Domaine Christian Drouin in Pays d'Auge, Normandy. Because Scotch whisky rules do not allow the pairing, it is labelled a spirit drink rather than a Scotch. It was released in April 2019 as a limited edition of 6,028 bottles at 46% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration.
The recipe combines the Drouin Pays d'Auge XO Calvados with a Highland malt blend of Clynelish, Dailuaine and Teaninich in custom French oak, Craigellachie from a first-fill sherry butt and blended Scotch from a refill sherry butt.
Apples and spice sit against dried fruit and vanilla, with a mouth-coating texture and a finish lengthened by the Calvados.
