Art & Decadence is a blended Scotch whisky from Compass Box, bottled at 49% in a 75cl bottle. Whiskymaker James Saxon blended seven parcels from six distilleries, and the edition was limited to 9,496 bottles, released in November 2023. It is natural colour and not chill-filtered.
Every parcel was shaped by sweet-wine wood: first-fill Oloroso, refill sherry, Sauternes, Palo Cortado, Madeira and Marsala. The name comes from the Aesthetic Movement and its Decadent offshoot of the late nineteenth century.
The nose combines red apples, waxed wood and wine with creamy liquorice. The palate brings golden raisin, apricot, apple and vanilla, lingering into dark chocolate and fragrant oak.
