Compass Box Brûlée Royale is a blended malt Scotch whisky in a 700ml bottle, bottled at 49% ABV. It is bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration.
The malt whiskies were matured in ex-bourbon barrels and custom American oak barrels, and the producer credits the custom casks with a sweet, crackling toffee character.
The nose opens with crème brûlée, custard Danish and scorched-sugar brittle. The palate is thick, with clotted cream, honeyed malt and broiled peaches, moving into custard and Tarte Tatin. The finish brings pannacotta, gentle nutmeg, toasted sugar and banana split.
