Compass Box Crimson Casks is a blended malt Scotch whisky built around sherry maturation, bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is natural colour and not chill-filtered, and was released in September 2024 as part of the Compass Box Core Collection.
A high proportion of the malts were aged in first-fill oloroso sherry-seasoned American oak butts. A further 7.3% is Highland blended malt matured in custom French oak with heavy toast, with the influence of a Spanish red-wine barrique.
The nose is chocolate fudge cake with clove and cardamom. Plum jam and redcurrant jelly follow, then rich cherry, toffee and oak, before a finish of raisin, honey and brown sugar.
