Flaming Heart is a blended malt from Compass Box, in a 70cl bottle at 48.9% ABV. This is the 2018 sixth edition, released as a limited edition.
Caol Ila from refill barrels makes up the largest part of the vatting. Clynelish from recharred and refill hogsheads and Deanston from refill hogsheads sit alongside it, with Highland malt from heavily toasted French oak barrels and a portion of Compass Box Spice Tree Extravaganza.
Tasting notes mention smoke, salt, peat, caramel, fruit, vanilla and toasty oak. The palate opens sweet and malty, then turns to campfire smoke and phenolic notes. The finish brings oak, creme brulee and vanilla.
