Compass Box Great King Street Glasgow Blend is a blended Scotch whisky bottled at 43%, with natural colour and no chill filtration. It was first released in 2014 as the fuller, smokier side of the Great King Street range.
The malt content is around 65%. The blend draws on Cameronbridge grain whisky, peated malt from Laphroaig, Clynelish and a sherried Speyside malt, matured in sherry-seasoned butts, American oak and custom French oak.
The nose is coal-fire peat smoke with sherry spice, fruitcake and sticky toffee pudding. The palate is full and mouth-coating, with dark dried fruit, sultana and baking spice, Islay peat underneath, and honey and orchard fruit with a little water. The finish is long, sweet and smoky.
