The Spice Tree is a blended malt Scotch whisky from Compass Box, bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is not chill-filtered and has natural colour.
The malt is Highland whisky given a secondary maturation of up to two years in custom hybrid casks: American oak barrels with heads of new, heavily toasted French oak. John Glaser devised the hybrid cask after the Scotch Whisky Association objected to the original 2005 method of inserting French oak staves, and the whisky was relaunched on that basis in 2009.
The nose brings clove, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg with vanilla. The palate is full, round and sweet, with spice and vanilla around fruity malt, and the finish is long.
