Compass Box The Spice Tree (70cl, 46%)

Compass Box The Spice Tree is a blended malt (Highland Speyside). Bottled at 46% ABV, 70cl. Matured in casks with French oak inner staves. Released in 2005, the original The Spice Tree batch used 'fresh new oak staves' placed within the casks to add additional character. The process was restricted by the Scotch Whisky Association as a breach of the traditional methods used to create Scotch whisky, resulting in The Spice Tree being removed from sale and Compass Box has since changed the production method. Today is remains part of their core range. Affectionately known as the "Banned Edition," this 2006 release is one of the last of the outlawed versions of the blend that the SWA ordered Compass Box to stop making in the same year.
