Connacht – 2016 The First Cask Inaugural Collector's Edition

This is The First Cask, the inaugural release from Connacht distillery, described as the first whiskey produced in Mayo in over 150 years. Only 800 individually numbered bottles were produced, and this is bottle 348. The distillery stands on the banks of the River Moy in Ballina, a few miles from the Atlantic. Its three copper pot stills were designed by master distiller Robert Cassell and made in Canada, with neck and head dimensions unlike any other stills in Ireland. The spirit is made only from Hook Head ale malt from Minch Malt, grown on 11 family farms in County Wexford.
