Connemara Distillers Edition is a peated Irish whiskey in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 43% vol. Peat is unusual in Irish whiskey, and Connemara is one of the few producers to use it. Colouring has been added.
The whiskey is matured in bourbon casks and finished in sherry casks, which bring vanilla and stewed fruit alongside the smoke.
The nose has smouldering peat smoke, sherry cask fruit, heather honey and gentle spice. On the palate there is vanilla custard with berry compote, peat smoke above and a hint of green oak. The finish is full, rich and long, with smoke like that of a dying campfire.
