This is a 45 year old Speyside single malt from Convalmore, distilled in 1975 and bottled in 2020 by Gordon & MacPhail for its Private Collection. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 47.9% ABV.
The whisky was matured in a single refill American hogshead and bottled at natural cask strength. Convalmore closed in 1985, and Gordon & MacPhail had earlier released Convalmore 1975 in two Rare Old editions, in 2008 and 2013.
The nose is citrus, with lemon and lime beside sweet desiccated coconut, then white chocolate, soft dark honey and nougat. The palate brings honeycomb, apple crumble, pears and peaches, giving way to mature oak. The finish is medium and sweet, with toasted hazelnuts.
