Convalmore – 1982/2022 40 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection (70cl, 55.5%)

This is a 40-year-old Convalmore from the Private Collection of Gordon & MacPhail, matured in a single refill American hogshead. It was distilled in 1982 and bottled on 2 March 2022 from cask 155. The distillery has been closed since 1985, so this single malt comes from among its last years of production. The cask gave only 104 bottles, each at 55.5% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour. The nose starts with pronounced vanilla, then fresh green apple and orange zest, with honeysuckle, quince and toasted walnut. The palate is sweet and smooth, with exotic fruit, poached pear, floral notes, white chocolate and baked apple. The finish is of medium weight, with guava and sweet honey.
