This Convalmore was distilled in 1984 and matured for 39 years in a refill sherry hogshead. It was bottled on 19 June 2024 at 51.1% ABV, as a single cask of 108 bottles. It belongs to the third Recollection Series from Gordon & MacPhail, which presents malts from closed or long-silent distilleries. Convalmore began production in 1894 and closed in 1985. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. Each release in the series carries an illustration by Bruno Mangyoku recalling the distillery's history. The nose offers dark treacle toffee, cinnamon, a fine waxy note, stewed raisins and butterscotch. On the palate come clementine, stewed berries and roasted hazelnuts, then brown sugar, coffee bean and dried banana. The full finish ends with black pepper and grapefruit peel.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
