This is a 39-year-old Speyside single malt from Convalmore, a distillery that has since closed. It was distilled in 1984 and bottled in 2024 by Gordon & MacPhail as part of its Recollection Series, at 51.1% ABV.
It comes from a single cask, number 1733, and the outturn was 108 bottles. The Recollection Series is aimed at preserving the legacy of lost Scottish distilleries.
In the tasting notes, the nose offers ripe yellow fruit and vanilla with fine spice, malt and old oak. The palate is full-bodied, with ripe fruit, honey sweetness and spicy oak. The finish is long and balanced, with fruit, spice and soft wood.
