A 40-year-old single malt from Convalmore, distilled in Speyside in January 1982, shortly before the distillery closed for good. It matured in a single refill American hogshead, cask 155, and was selected by Gordon & MacPhail in March 2022 for their Private Collection.
The bottling belongs to The Recollection series, which honours the legacy of closed distilleries.
The nose combines vanilla, green apple and orange peel, with a touch of quince and roasted walnuts. Ripe pear and apple lead the palate, with a fine, precise texture. The finish is long and honeyed, with exotic guava.
