Coperies is a French single malt whisky from Distillerie Merlet & Fils, a family house in Charente-Maritime that has distilled Cognac, fruit liqueurs and other spirits for more than 170 years. Brothers Luc and Pierre Merlet turned to whisky in 2021. The barley is grown, malted and brewed in France, then double-distilled in Charentais copper pot stills and aged in French oak, using a mix of new and old wood. It comes in a 75cl bottle at 40% ABV.
The nose is fruity and floral with a mild earthiness. The palate is sweet, with rum raisin, lavender, brown sugar and a granary note, and the finish stays on brown sugar.
