Corsair Dark Rye is a craft rye whiskey from Corsair Distillery in Nashville, Tennessee, bottled at 42.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Its mashbill is 61% malted rye, 4% malted chocolate rye and 35% malted barley, with no corn.
The whiskey is made in house and aged for about eight months in small 15-gallon barrels.
The nose leads with rye spice, bright citrus and dark cocoa, with dried dark fruit beneath. The palate is chewy, with assertive rye spice, oaky sweetness, dark pastry and a cooling hint of menthol. The finish is medium, moving from chocolate and baking spice to a dry rye fade.
