Courage & Conviction Double Cask Reserve is an American single malt made from 100% malted barley and matured in Virginia. It comes in a 75cl bottle at 48% ABV.
The whisky is aged for a minimum of five years in first-fill bourbon casks and in European red wine Cuvée casks that have been through the STR process, which rejuvenates the wood. Virginia's hot summers and cool winters are said to speed up maturation.
The nose is bright with citrus, apricot and butterscotch. On the palate tart cherry meets milk chocolate, and the finish is soft and lingering with a touch of ginger spice.
