Courvoisier is a cognac first produced by Jules Gallois and Felix Courvoisier in the mid-19th century in the Charente region of France. Their fathers, Louis and Emmanuel, had developed a brandy-making reputation during the Napoleonic Wars. The cognac was later bought by an English family, who established its identity with the recognisable Josephine bottle and Napoleon's shadow as a logo. It was notably present in Charles Dickens' spirit collection after his death and was requested for the grand opening of the Eiffel Tower. Courvoisier now belongs to Beam Suntory and continues to produce elegant and stylish cognacs.
