This Craigellachie was distilled in 2005 and matured for 18 years in a Cognac cask. Spiritfilled bottled it for the Mythical Beasts series, at 54.1% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered, from an outturn of 278 bottles.
The Cognac cask adds a soft, fruity richness to the weighty Speyside spirit that Craigellachie is known for.
The nose shows baked apple, vanilla and sweet oak with a lift of fruit and spice. On the palate, rich orchard fruit and creamy vanilla lead into robust malt and warming oak spice. The finish is long and warming, with baked fruit, vanilla sweetness and drying spice.
