Craigellachie 23 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Craigellachie distillery in Speyside, in a 70cl bottle. It spent 23 years maturing in oak casks that previously held sherry, and it is presented in a tube.
The nose has ripe fruit such as plums and pears, dark chocolate, a faint hint of peat smoke, vanilla and toffee. The palate is oily, with ripe fruit, nutmeg, black pepper and burnt caramel; a little water brings out herbs and leather. The finish is long, with warm spice and a touch of minerality.
