Craigellachie – 33 Year Old (75cl, 46%)

Craigellachie 33 Year Old is a Speyside single malt distilled in 1983 and bottled at 46% ABV. It is a small-batch release of 1,700 bottles in the Exceptional Cask Series from Dewar's, hand-selected by Stephanie Macleod, and it has natural colour and no chill filtration. It is the oldest expression the distillery had released. Craigellachie condenses through worm tubs, which gives a heavy, muscular spirit, and the release is described as pairing that character with a rare sherry finesse. The tasting notes describe explosive sulphury aromas, cereal complexity and exotic fruits, followed by a long, creamy finish.
