A Craigellachie single malt, eight and a half years old, in a 350ml bottle at 57.5% ABV. The colour is deep copper with reddish glints.
It matured first in a first-fill Premier Cru Chateau Larose-Trintaudon red wine barrique, then spent 11 months finishing in a 60-year-old oloroso hogshead.
The nose combines dark berries, red grapes and cherries with malty sweetness, raisins, walnuts, leather and a dry red wine structure. The palate is oily and intense, with red fruit, plums, spicy oak, cocoa and nutty oloroso. The finish is medium to long, with dried fruit, dark chocolate and a mineral note.
