Crater Lake Rye is a straight American rye whiskey from Crater Lake Spirits, also known as Bendistillery, in Bend, Oregon. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
It is distilled from rye grain and aged in American oak until it takes on a honey colour. Bendistillery was founded in Bend in 1996 by Jim Bendis and now produces on a farm property in nearby Tumalo.
The nose is creamy toffee and vanilla. On the palate, toffee and vanilla open into peppery rye spice, with baking spice and roasted caramel corn. The finish is soft oak.
