Crown Royal Deluxe is a blended Canadian whisky in a 750ml bottle, made from around 50 whiskies at the Crown Royal distillery in Gimli, Manitoba. It starts with a corn-based whisky distilled in Coffey stills, which is blended with pot-distilled rye and barley flavouring whiskies. Every component is aged in charred American oak barrels.
The brand was first created in 1939 to mark the royal visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and the whisky still comes in a purple bag.
The nose is light oak, vanilla and orchard fruit with a hint of grain. The palate is silky and medium-bodied, with vanilla, butterscotch, light caramel and gentle rye spice, and the finish is smooth and mellow with vanilla and soft oak.
