Crown Royal is a blended Canadian whisky, bottled at 40% ABV in a 1.75L bottle. It is made at the Crown Royal Distillery in Gimli, Manitoba, and blended from over 50 individual whiskies.
The brand was created in 1939 to mark the visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Canada. The whiskies are aged in first-fill charred oak barrels and previously used oak casks before blending.
The nose is vanilla and maple syrup with soft dried fruit. The palate is creamy, with honey and caramel, then light oak and a touch of rye spice and pepper. The finish is soft, with sweet vanilla and gentle baking spice.
