Cutty Sark is a light-bodied blended Scotch whisky, bottled at 40% ABV in a 1.75 litre bottle. It was launched in 1923 by the London wine merchants Berry Bros. & Rudd, and is now produced by La Martiniquaise.
The blend is built mainly on Speyside single malts with grain whiskies, all matured in American oak casks. The components then rest together in oak for 21 days before bottling.
Toffee leads the nose, with citrus zest, a little smoke, vanilla and soft herbs. The palate is sweet and light, with caramel, vanilla, fresh citrus and a clean malt backbone. The finish is short to medium, with smoke and lingering sweetness.
