Cutty Sark is a light-bodied blended Scotch whisky, bottled at 40% ABV in a 1 litre bottle. It was first created on 23 March 1923 as a softer, paler style of blend.
The recipe pairs grain whiskies from North British and Invergordon with around 40 single malts, among them Highland Park, The Glenrothes, Macallan and Bunnahabhain. The components are matured separately in American oak casks before they are married together.
The nose brings lemon zest, barley malt, honey and ripe pear. On the palate there is orange and lemon peel, then green apple and vanilla. The finish is medium in length, with green apple and a faint wisp of smoke.
