This is a 25-year-old Speyside single malt from Dailuaine, distilled in 1997 and bottled at cask strength for Wilson & Morgan Barrel Selection. It was matured in refill bourbon hogsheads, then finished for 27 months in a second-fill Oloroso sherry butt.
The nose is vinous, resinous and intense, with raisin sweetness, mineral notes, old oak, tropical fruit, chestnut honey and ripe red wine, lifted by a citrus tang. The palate is balsamic, with pine resin, crème brûlée, candied citrus and roasted nuts, oaky and vinous but soft rather than drying. The finish is autumnal, tannic and warm.
