This Dallas Dhu was distilled on 10 June 1969 and spent fifty years in a single refill sherry hogshead, number 1656, before it was bottled on 12 June 2019. It comes from the Private Collection of Gordon & MacPhail, with 176 bottles at 43.1% and a mahogany colour.
The nose is rich fruit cake with raisins, sultanas and orange peel, alongside candied ginger, almond marzipan and toffee with dark sugar syrup, then fine wood smoke and tobacco over restrained oak. On the palate, toffee apples meet dark chocolate, fruit and nuts, with crushed peppercorns adding warmth as the wood tannins grow. The finish is long and warming, with roasted coffee beans fading into a light herbal note.
