This is a 50-year-old Speyside single malt from Dallas Dhu, a distillery that closed in 1983 and is now preserved as a museum. It forms part of the Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection.
The whisky was distilled on 10 June 1969 and matured for fifty years in a refill sherry hogshead. It was bottled in June 2019 at 43.1% in a 70cl bottle, with 176 bottles produced.
The nose shows rich fruit cake with sultanas and candied orange peel, ripe fruit and old oak. The palate combines marzipan and toffee with wood smoke, tobacco, candied apples and nutty dark chocolate. The finish is long, with roasted coffee beans, delicate herbs and oak.
