Dallas Dhu – 1979/2023 42 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection #1404 (70cl, 54.1%)

This is a 42 year old Speyside single malt from Dallas Dhu, a distillery that closed in 1983 and now survives only as a museum. It is a single cask, number 1404, distilled in 1979 and chosen by Gordon & MacPhail for their Private Collection in 2023. It is bottled at 54.1% ABV. The nose offers ripe tropical fruit, sweet honey and dried banana. On the palate come juicy pineapple, creamy butterscotch and Brazil nuts, with ripe oak and fine spice. The finish is long, with citrus notes and a dry, dignified cask spice.
