This is a 43-year-old Dallas Dhu from the Private Collection of Gordon & MacPhail, bottled as The Recollection Series #2. It was distilled on 8 June 1979 and bottled on 11 January 2023 from cask 1404 at 54.1%, without added colour.
The whisky matured in a single refill American hogshead, which gave 155 bottles. It dates from the years before Dallas Dhu closed in 1983.
The nose combines ripe tropical fruit, honey and dried banana, with delicate floral notes, vanilla pod and a hint of grapefruit. On the palate, pronounced orange peel meets butterscotch and Brazil nuts, then pineapple and mango give way to toasted oak. The finish is full and sweet, with lemon and a light spice.
