Dalmore King Alexander III is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is named after the Scottish king whose life was reportedly saved by Colin of Kintail, an event recalled by the twelve-point stag on every Dalmore bottle.
The spirit first matures in ex-bourbon casks. Parcels are then finished separately in Matusalem oloroso sherry, Madeira, Marsala, port and Cabernet Sauvignon casks, and master distiller Richard Paterson marries them together.
The nose is usually described as caramel, toffee, red berries and chocolate. On the palate are Seville orange, vanilla and almonds, and the finish is medium-long, with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.
