Dalmore – Port Wood Reserve (75cl, 46.5%)

Dalmore Port Wood Reserve is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 46.5% in a 750ml bottle. The spirit first matures in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. The batch is then divided: one half stays in bourbon casks, the other moves into tawny port pipes from a Portuguese port house, and the two halves are remarried before bottling. The nose brings sweet red berries, Seville orange peel and plummy fruit with sticky toffee pudding. On the palate there is mocha, caramel, nectarine and roasted chestnuts, with ginger spice and dried cherries. The finish is long, with plum, sultana and blood orange, and ends dry with tobacco leaf.
