This is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace, made to a recipe that uses emmer wheat, an ancient Egyptian grain once used in bread and beer.
It is named after Daniel Weller, grandfather of William Larue Weller. In 1794 he left Maryland, travelled down the Ohio River with his wife and children, and settled in Kentucky, where the family continued to distil.
The bottle is a tribute to him as the trail blazer of the Weller family.
