This is the third volume of Ripple Rye from Dark Arts Whiskey House of Lexington, Kentucky. It is an eight-year-old straight rye bottled at cask strength, 55.2% ABV, in a 750ml bottle. The whiskey was distilled in Indiana from 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and aged for eight years in American oak. It was then finished in barrels that once held maple syrup, together with toasted Amburana oak staves, a Brazilian wood with warm cinnamon and gingerbread notes. It was blended and bottled in Kentucky. The nose has French vanilla, ginger snaps, toasted hazelnut and fresh cherry. On the palate come iced cinnamon roll, candied ginger, orange zest and mulling spice, with maple sweetness. The finish is velvety and lingering, with holiday spice and oak.
