Blunt Blend is an 8-year-old straight rye from Dark Arts Whiskey House, finished in Madeira wine barrels, Armagnac casks and honey casks. It was distilled in Indiana from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, then bottled in Kentucky.
This is Batch 001, a release of 420 bottles at a cask strength of 56.4% ABV. It is non-chill filtered and comes in a 75cl bottle.
The nose is dark fruit, rye spice, orange zest and floral honey. On the palate come fig jam, nutmeg, toasted oak, leather and a delicate honeyed sweetness. The finish is warm and lingering, with cocoa, dried herbs and a fortified wine note.
