Barely Legal is a cask-strength bourbon from Dark Arts Whiskey House, bottled at 58.5% in a 75cl bottle. The whiskey was distilled in Indiana, then blended and bottled in Lexington, Kentucky. The mash bill is 51% corn, 39% rye and 10% malted rye, which places it between a traditional bourbon and a high-rye whiskey. The name refers to the minimum 51% corn a bourbon must contain. Each batch blends whiskeys aged between 6 and 8 years. The nose offers ripe orchard fruits, rye spice and caramelised sugar, with lemon zest and graham crackers. Honeyed chocolate and cherry cola lead the palate, and the finish is buttery, with vanilla and caramel.
