Barley Legal is a cask strength straight bourbon from Dark Arts Whiskey House, bottled at 57.5% in a 75cl bottle. The mash bill is 51% corn, 39% rye and 10% malted rye. The whiskey was distilled in Indiana and blended in Kentucky from three small batch barrels, with an age of seven to eight years. Dark Arts is a Lexington, Kentucky, business founded by Macaulay Minton, who previously managed the single barrel programme at Wilderness Trail, and it specialises in blending, rebarreling and finishing. The nose shows ripe orchard fruits, the palate honeyed chocolate, and the mouthfeel is buttery.
