Deanston 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt matured for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 46.3% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered, with no added colour.
The distillery stands on the River Teith near Doune, in a former cotton mill that became a distillery in 1966. The producer describes its spirit as uniquely waxy in texture, and this bottling is unpeated.
The nose brings summer hay, malty cereal, creamy toffee and honeyed heather. The palate is smooth and creamy with fruit, honeyed spice and soft vanilla, and the finish is crisp with a lingering tingle of cloves.
