Deanston – 15 Year Old Tequila Cask Finish (70cl, 52.5%)

This is a 15 year old Highland single malt from Deanston, and the first release in the distillery's experimental limited-edition series, launched in spring 2023. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at natural colour. The whisky spent 13 years in traditional oak hogsheads before a further two years in casks that previously held agave tequila from the Jaliscan Highlands of Mexico. The nose is fresh pineapple, crème brûlée and mixed nuts over light oak. On the palate it is rich yet dry, with caramelised agave, toasted almonds and baked apples with custard. The finish is long, with brown spice and sweet bursts of citrus.
