Deanston Organic American Oak 20 Year Old is a Highland single malt distilled in 2002 from certified-organic Scottish barley. It was matured for 20 years in re-charred organic American oak casks and bottled at cask strength, 49.7% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered, of natural colour, and 2,826 bottles were produced.
Deanston has been certified organic since April 2000, and the casks are re-charred so they stay organic-certified.
The nose is sweet vanilla and caramel with cedar, wood spice and ripe fruit. The palate is rich yet dry, with honey spice, stone fruit, toasted oak and freshly cut grass. The finish lingers with desiccated coconut and a touch of cocoa.
