Deanston Virgin Oak is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Deanston Distillery in Doune, Perthshire, bottled at 46.3% in a 750ml bottle. It is non-chill filtered.
The whisky starts in ex-bourbon barrels, then spends nine to twelve months in new American oak casks that have never held any spirit.
The nose offers heather honey and candied orange peel with creamy vanilla, caramel and warm spice. The palate is honeyed and malty, with vanilla toffee, ginger snaps and a waxy texture. The finish is medium, with clove, crystallised ginger and citrus zest fading to white pepper.
