This is a 15 year old blended Scotch from Dewar's, known as The Monarch. It is made from malt and grain whiskies matured in sherry and bourbon casks, then married a second time in oak in the double-ageing process Dewar's pioneered. It is bottled at 40%, in a 75cl bottle.
The name comes from Sir Edwin Landseer's 1851 painting The Monarch of the Glen, and this was the first blend created by Master Blender Stephanie Macleod for the house.
The nose is honey, butterscotch and golden toffee with soft florals and green apple. The palate is velvety, with spiced apple, vanilla cream, dried fruit and a whisper of smoke. The finish is long and warming, with oak and citrus zest.
