Dewar's 18 Year Founders Reserve is a blended Scotch whisky in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 40% ABV by John Dewar & Sons. It is built from up to 30 malt and grain whiskies, drawn from five company-owned distilleries: Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Craigellachie, Royal Brackla and Macduff.
Each component is matured for 18 years in American oak bourbon casks. After blending, the whisky goes back into vintage oak casks for a further six months, a double-ageing step Dewar's began at Aberfeldy in 1899.
The nose offers butterscotch, vanilla wafer and dry malt. The palate is creamy, with honey, toffee and dark chocolate. The finish is long and dry, with dried fruit.
