Doc Swinson Alter Ego is a straight rye whiskey made by the solera method, in which younger whiskey is added to older barrels over time. The solera was established in 2020 and keeps maturing with every bottling drawn from it. The blend uses mash bills aged 4 to 6 years in new oak, followed by an additional maturation in rum casks.
It is bottled at 47.5% ABV without chill filtration. This edition took Double Gold at the SF Spirits Competition.
The honeyed notes from the rum gently coat the spicy, herbaceous rye, and the palate is never too sweet.
