Doc Swinson's Alter Ego High Proof is a triple cask straight bourbon bottled at 57.3% ABV (114.6 proof), in a 75cl bottle. It is the blend that brings together the brand's Exploratory Cask Series releases, in a stronger version than the standard Alter Ego.
Two bourbons, one high in rye and one higher in corn, are blended and then divided between ex-Oloroso sherry butts, ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry butts and ex-Cognac puncheons. They finish for three to over sixteen months, then are married together in ex-Cognac foeders before bottling.
The nose is described as Cracker Jacks, caramel, nut brittle and dark cherries. The palate brings marzipan, bright cherry, spearmint, whipped cream, cinnamon and nutmeg.
