Doc Swinson's Alter Ego Solera Method Rye Whiskey (75cl, 47.5%)

Doc Swinson's Alter Ego is a straight rye whiskey bottled at 47.5% in a 750ml bottle. It combines two MGP rye mash bills, one of 95% rye and one of 51% rye, each aged for three to six years in new American oak. The whiskey then enters a Spanish-style solera of ex-Caribbean rum casks, with rum from St. Croix, Trinidad, Venezuela and Jamaica. Only part of the oldest tier is bottled, and the tiers above refill it. The solera was established in 2020, and the rye is bottled non-chill filtered in Ferndale, Washington. The nose has a hint of smoke behind caramel apples, poached spiced pears and peach pit. Cherry blossom, molasses and anise run through the palate, and the finish is round and molasses-tinged.
